We’re running a limited test of a new economy system for Sky Warriors. Instead of unlocking aircraft through tiers, pilots in the new economy will collect plane shards and upgrade through a new Star Tier system. This article explains what’s changing, how the new economy, and what it means for you.
What is the New Economy?
It’s a small trial running on specific servers. If you’re in it, you’ll unlock and upgrade planes using shards and Star Tiers instead of the old tier path.
For now, the game is split into two versions:
New economy servers: progression with shards and Star Tiers.
Regular servers: progression with the traditional tiers.
This lets us compare both versions fairly before making long-term decisions.
Who’s included?
For now, only new accounts can be placed in the new economy. Entire servers are either fully in the new economy or not at all, so everyone on a server plays under the same rules. Matchmaking is also kept separate to keep things fair.
How do I know if I’m in the new economy?
If your account is in the new economy, you’ll notice:
Stars on airplane cards.
Rarity colors (blue, purple, orange).
Upgrade screens with Star Tiers and shard progress.
What’s changing?
Planes are unlocked by rarity using plane-specific shards.
Progression comes from raising Star Tiers, not climbing traditional tiers.
What stays the same?
The core PvP dogfights are untouched.
Events and offers still run, just adapted to include shards where it makes sense.
How do shards work?
Each plane has its own shards. They’re used to:
Unlock the plane.
Increase its Star Tier after unlocking.
What is Star Tier?
Star Tier is a new upgrade path that:
Boosts a plane’s Firepower and Durability.
Unlocks decals and paint jobs as you progress.
It runs from 0 to 5 stars, with smaller steps in between (for example, 2.0 → 2.2 → 2.4 → 2.6 → 2.8 → 3.0).
What about the old tiers?
On new economy servers, the traditional tier unlock system is gone. Everything runs through shards and Star Tiers.
How does matchmaking works on these servers?
Players in the new economy only face others with the same rules. Regular servers stay separate. This keeps things fair and lets us track results clearly.
Can I join the New Economy Server?
Yes, but only with a new account. If your account doesn’t land in the new economy server, you can try again by creating a new one until you get placed on the new economy server.
How do features, passes and offers fit in?
Features like Arms Race include shard-related tasks and rewards.
Sky Pass on test servers feature shards for selected planes.
Daily and weekly offers are tuned to match the needs of Star Tier progression.
